Join me at Kuringai Art Centre in Term 4 where I will be teaching drawing, watercolour, pen and ink. Suitable for beginners to intermediate. Explore traditional techniques of drawing and use of colour through your choice of pencil, ink and watercolour.
Learn all about painting in acrylics and mixed media. This is a hands-on class for students who are new to painting, wanting to get back into painting or explore acrylics with a variety of other media. You will learn about supports and how to prepare your canvas, composition/observation and how to make an under-drawing, how to mix paint colours, painting techniques and application, how to use brushes and other painting tools, mark making and what to know about acrylic mediums and how to use them and how to varnish and complete your painting. Your tutor will give a painting demonstration and individual attention to help you develop as an artist, building your confidence. By the end of this course you will have gained new skills and completed your very own finished piece of art to take home and hang.

Explore the world of sketching and learn tips and tricks to capture your travels or everyday subjects accurately in your sketchbook. Learn to observe and render light and shadow using pencil, pen, ink and watercolour washes and discover your individual artistic style and gain the skills and confidence to fill up your sketchbooks. Reference materials will be provided but feel free to bring along any favourite travel snaps you may want to sketch also.
Two day oil painting workshop at the artists studio in North Narrabeen, Sydney. In this workshop students will learn to paint portraits working directly from the life model. Students will:
- focus on developing critical observation skills, connecting and tuning in with your subject
- how to measure facial proportions, how to ‘see’ from life versus photo
- learn the importance of a tonal underpainting and establishing a good foundation to build your portrait
- exploring colour, character and realistic features
- learn how to set out a basic oil colour palette for mixing skin tones
Summer School at Kuringai Art Centre.
In this three day workshop you will learn about composition, colour, tone and texture using mixed media on paper. We will use watercolour, gouache and /or acrylics, inks, oil pastels and watercolour pencils. Demonstrations of techniques will be shown and individual tuition and guidance given. Individual expression will be encouraged. This workshop will be full of information and ideas.
This two day workshop is for students with some prior experience who would like to explore portraiture with a difference. Stephanie is known for her respresentational portraits that incorporate interesting elements of the landscape and more into the backgrounds. Stephanie writes My work is a representation of an explorers quiet observations of lands and faces and their relationship to each another.
